The art gallery at the SCLC is a space for local people to sell their arts and crafts. Souvenir shops in Costa Rica take a substantial commission on sales. The SCLC art gallery, however, offers local artisans a more favorable return for their work. Thus the SCLC art gallery serves to allow local artisans to earn extra income, value ecotourism in the area, and share a bit of their local culture with international visitors. Visitors to the area, including Selva Verde Lodge guests, come to the SCLC and are pleasantly surprised at the quality of the local, handmade items offered here. The SCLC also has developed t-shirts, cards, and posters that are sold in the art gallery to help support our own programs.
