Charlas/Talks
Lidia Murillo Sanchez is a divorced mother who lives in the neighborhood of La Esperanza in Sarapiqui. She has 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Lidia makes traditional ceramic dishes, vases, and figurines, an art that was passed on to her from relatives with ancestral roots in the Chorotega tribe of Guanacaste. She sells these ceramics as her livelihood both in the SCLC art gallery and in the store she runs out of her home.

She is very interested in the history of her community and the variety of work that women do there, such as growing black pepper or yucca, raising cattle, rabbits, or chickens to sell, and her job, caring for and milking twice daily her two cows, and selling the milk, sour cream, and cheese. Hazel makes jewelry with the SCLC’s women’s group and is in charge of inventory for the group.
