Dear Friends,

As we enter 2009 here at the Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center (Centro de Aprendizaje para la Conservacion en Sarapiqui) we look back at the achievements of 2008 and look forward to a successful 2009.

The 6.2 earthquake that struck Costa Rica recently has only increased the need for support of the ecology of the Sarapiqui Region.  The Sarapiqui River was significantly affected and the need to monitor the quality of the water for our wildlife and our neighbors will be a focus of 2009.

We will continue to educate and inform the populations of our neighboring communities about nature and how we can live lives more in harmony with nature as we conduct our Afterschool Programs, Environmental Education Programs, Scholarship Program, and new this year monthly adult education programs.

In 2009 we are seeking to raise $4000 in general donations for the support of our center and our programs.  Become a member of the SCLC with a donation of just $25.  Donate  $100 or more and you will receive a free SCLC T-shirt.  A small contribution goes a long way here in Costa Rica. We hope you will take this opportunity to support our mission of linking communities with conservation through education and tourism.
